Revisiting the Symbol (2020) is an interactive virtual installation reinterpreting Anthony's Lee's 2009 mural on South Main, Modern Hieroglyphs. Lee's mural depicts 25 contemporary pictographs and icons, and asks the question, "How will we understand these symbols a century from now?" Continuing Lee's inquiry, artist Paige Ellens reflects on the meaning of these symbols in light of a decade of drastic technological change. The planned outdoor installation of Revisiting the Symbol featured a kinetic curtain of VHS tape spanning the 700 ft wall, framing QR codes that would connect viewers to videos created in response to the mural by 25 local, national, and international artists. Originally intended to open in Spring 2020, plans for the outdoor installation were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Edge of Chaos (2019) is a "multidimensional, mixed media and immersive art installation and experience– comprised of 13 individual paintings, drawings and other elements including ropes and unwound VHS tapes. In this exhibition, Ellens explores the theory of Chaos as it relates to her own artistic practice and psyche. This exceptional body of work and installation provide a visual, emotional and psychological experience characterized by duality– movement and stasis, abrasiveness and sensitivity, order and entropy, the pattern and the mess, the overwhelming and the intimate, the control and the chaos." - AG Netterville. Edge of Chaos was located at Artspace, curated by AG Netterville, and sponsored by Clough Hanson Gallery at Rhodes College.

The Fourth Wall (2018) is a representation of when an actor turns and faces the audience in a film or theatrical performance.  Incorporating outdated materials such as VHS tape to veil the wall is an homage to a time spent growing up in a small town. Watching movies and listening to music was a way to escape and enter another world. It threw me into another individual’s life experiences and provided a scene both distant and familiar to my own. Studying the details and spending hours on a task helps me better understand an environment. I am attracted to the routine of it, focusing on the fetishized surfaces and repetitious line work. Using VHS tape on the surfaces of the room has given me the time to appreciate the intricacies found in this historic building.

Named after Krzysztof Penderecki’s composition, Polymorphia (2018) is an interactive installation exploring the human condition and empathy. The installation featured an immersive experience that gave the viewer a glimpse into the memories of 48 people, delving into individual recollections overlaid with recorded audio and red tinted imagery. The overall installation allowed the viewer to explore a realm of the familiar and the unfamiliar via this video, patterned paintings and sculptures displayed on a collaged wall.

Excessive Tendencies (2016) is a collaborative installation by Paige Ellens and Emilio Norman. The installation incorporated video, paintings, photographs, and a kinetic sculpture that focused on consumerism in America. The exhibition featured an entire 30+ foot wall of receipts gathered from the community and 20 ft. wall of sales ads. The installation included pieces such as 'Born to Buy" and "Compostion C(onsume)" as well as a series of photographs of retail stores and products.
